India Trip, Day 14: custard apple shake

October 27 (Sat) - Day 14:  custard apple shake

Devar drove me around the city today.  First we went to this men's tailor he found at some underground place (!!!) of a building, gave some of the cloth pieces for his shirt and trousers.  On the way home we bought fruits from the stalls we saw on road.  Since neither of us had any idea how to buy fruits and how much they'd cost, after reaching home I realized that it is safe to say we were ripped.  Oops.

But the best part of my day was when we went to Mayur Pan Shop in Abids.  I have been there many times before to have chaat, pav bhaji, sandwich, pan, fruit shakes, etc.  But today for the first time in life I drank custard apple (sitaphal) shake and I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it.  Custard apples are in season and devar insisted I try it.  I was hesitant, because I was doubtful about the million seeds in a custard apple crushing along with the pulp in a juicer.

But the thick, slightly sweet, chilled, completely seedless, and very pulpy custard apple shake from Mayur is the BEST thing to try in the month of October.  And it is only Rs. 50 ($1...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) for each hearty glass filled to the brim.

Ahhhhhhhh.  I think I just died and went into custard apple heaven.
