Bollywood (Hindi) Songs on Adornments / Jewelry / Ornaments

I searched far and wide on Google for a list of Bollywood songs related to jewelry.  There was a game I was planning for a kitty party for which I needed some examples of Hindi songs on women's ornaments.

There are SO many songs in Bollywood that have to do with earrings, necklace, anklet, henna, bangles, etc!  I was not looking for particularly the "solah shringar" (16 adornments of an Indian bride) or wedding-related songs; just the ones that mention any jewelry or ornament.  But I did not find a single post on the internet where the songs were listed.

So after much research, here's my compilation - remember, this list of songs and this post about Bollywood songs on adornments was first published on this blog SpushtChats!

The kind of adornments an Indian woman would put on would be necklace (haar, naulakha, mangalsutra...), earrings (jhumka...), anklet (payal, jhanjariya..), ring (angoothi..), bangle (chudiyan..), bracelet (kangna..), sticker on forehead (bindiya...), henna (mehendi...), ankle bells (ghunghroo), armlet (baajuband), nose ring (nath, laung...) etc.

Game Idea
The game that I was talking about at the beginning can be played at casual kitty party with the women, at sangeet or other wedding events, during festivals or a sinjaara with the ladies (it's a great game to play on Teej party or if you are looking for game ideas for Gangaur), or can be played even with men and see how well they can keep up with it!

Let's call this game: Sajna Sawarna.  In English, that would refer to wearing nice clothes, applying cosmetics, putting on jewelry, and getting all decked up.

Basically, in a box put solah shringaar items like the ones mentioned in the list above.  Ask the person to put hand in box and pick any one object quickly and sing a Hindi/Bollywood song related to that particular item.  The songs in the list above can be your guide; you can cross them off once done so each person has to come up with a new song.  I have also included the name of movie and year released.  This game would be just for fun, no winner.  I wouldn't put chits with name of ornament written on it because holding the piece of jewelry makes it more challenging for them to name it and think of a song related to it.

Enjoy!
