This is a result of volcano of
irritations that has erupted after the two years of blogging. While my grumpy-cranky self could severely
upset some bloggers, continue reading at your own risk. You have been warned.
1.
A week before a festival or an event I start to see posts like “10 recipes for Superbowl”
Really how many of these bloggers OUTSIDE
US ACTUALLY watch or cook specially for Superbowl, or even celebrate certain
festivals that they specially post recipes for???

2.
When a blogger posts 10 recipes along with stories each day for over 4
years, a blogger ought to run out of things to talk and write about. Or at least talk about it in an interesting
way. Because when I read stuff like
this: (I am serious - this stuff is actually taken from someone’s
blog, from various posts, some exaggeration done and some key words changed on purpose)
I don’t
know what to write today. I have several
posts lying in my drafts but I don’t feel like posting anything. I know my ‘hungry blog’ needs some attention,
but I’ve been feeling very lazy to write.
I
thought of making guava juice today.
When I think of guava, I remember the guava tree in my house when I was
5-6 years old. The guava tree was big
and had lot of branches, green leaves and guavas on it. I was searching for a lot of recipes for
guava juice. It was almost 10 in the
night and I was thinking why I was still thinking.
Coming
back to my day, I also thought of making some burgers. I have always been attached to burgers. Even if I don’t order burger for myself in a
restaurant, I always examine my partner’s burger with keen interest and try to
understand what’s in it.
…I
cover my face with my palms, shake my head, and wish I could get those 2
minutes of my life back again.

3. Saw something like this on someone’s Facebook
page:
“I’m so excited! A big announcement coming soon here on my
Facebook page in 30 minutes!! Stay tuned!!!”
150
people ‘like’ that status update, but what comes to my mind first: really –
what is it that you cannot tell NOW that you have to update about the update
after another update??

4.
Another kind of useless poll or status on some Facebook pages that annoy
me:
“I have 9 recipes in my draft. Which post would you like to see first:
a) blah blah
refreshing drink
b) delicious
curry blah blah
c) blah blah
amazing stir-fry
d) tempting
dessert blah blah
e) blah blah
authentic recipe
f) juicy fruity
something blah blah
g) blah blah
healthy, popular something
h) one thing
i) one more
damn thing
OKAY, OKAY. How does it matter what you want to have
posted first when you have already drafted all those posts and will post one
after another in any case no matter what people say?!??

5.
Again, as witnessed on some Facebook pages: (hypothetical scenario here, but seen similar stuff there)
What
I see…
10:13 am: [photo] now cooking!
10:27 am: [photo] guess what’s cooking!
10:39 am: [photo] just finished cooking!
10:51 am: [photo] coming soon on the blog!
11:28 am: [photo] sneak peak of what’s coming
next!
What
I do…
11:28:59 am:
*click* … *click* … now guess what I did next!
I can relate to the obsession about one’s
blog and one’s Facebook page…but if you keep throwing continuous updates on
my feed, I am going to ‘unlike’ you dude.

6. Has anyone else noticed the usual pattern of
comments SOME bloggers leave?
If it is a….
Soup, dal, etc: “looks so comforting”
Juice, lassi, milkshake: “nice n
refreshing”
Curry, Stir-fry, etc: “looks very tempting”
Cookie, snacks, etc: “feel like munching”
Bread, anything complicated: “brilliantly
done”
Cake, cupcake, etc: “drooling here”
Anything else: “looks inviting”
Bloggers that hardly spend 20 seconds on the blog because they are in a hurry to
leave a comment and backlink on as many blogs within a day would do that. And they think their silly comments are going
to earn them any brownie points? Not in my space, puh-leese.

7. Why are some bloggers so ashamed to share the sources of their inspiration for a certain common recipe? Regular meals is understandable, but what about certain cakes or a Thousand Island dressing, for example? They did not just ‘dream’ those proportions and those ingredients and those procedures fo’ sho’. Or even if it was trial and error, the creative inspiration must have come from SOMEWHERE, isn’t it?

8. Earlier, I used to ask a question at the end
of my post. Hardly anyone answered
anything related to it.
When I read how using the right words can make a difference in
audience interaction, I changed the wordings and added “Your turn:……..?” to the question. Responses related
to the question were rare.
Then I
changed it to GREEN color so at least it would look obvious. Then I changed “Your turn” to “Your challenge”. But you know what I just do now? I write below the post: “either comment related to
this or don’t comment at all”.
Raise
your hands if you want enriching comments and discussions on your blog instead of comments that add no value.

9.
To be continued. I’m out of the
bed now. Until I wake up on the wrong
side again…
Hasta la vista folks,

Lol Nisha! :D You can add on onother point - People come by comment in a jiffy on your post in 3-4 words and then take the rest of the space to tell you about their blog and asking you to drop by when 'free'. Duh!!
ReplyDeleteYeppppp! People don't understand that if they leave a smart comment - everyone will drop by whether free or not.
